Othell Timothy Newbill, III is a native Chicagoan who came to Arizona at age 11. He was born to Othell Timothy Newbill, Jr. and Barbara Newbill who have been joyously married for over 55 years. Rev. Newbill and Sonji Newbill, his wife of over 30 years are blessed with 4 children, 6 godchildren, and 4 grandchildren Reverend Newbill worked in the field of emergency management for over 20 years with Maricopa County initially and he concluded his tenure with the City of Goodyear as its Emergency Manager. Although Reverend Newbill is no longer employed in the field, he remains well-known in the field of emergency management. He has built phenomenal relationships with city officials in many municipalities and continues to share his knowledge and expertise where needed. Reverend Newbill is a well-spoken man of GOD who is active in the community. He has hosted City of Goodyear events, given invocations at ceremonies for the fallen first responders of 911, and been speaker high school functions throughout the valley. He serves on both the Arizona Charter Academy and Cancer Treatment Center for America board of directors. He also presently serves as the volunteer chaplain for the City of Goodyear Fire and Police Departments. He is a proud and grateful veteran of the United States Army where he served over 20 years as a chaplain’s assistant and retired as a highly decorated Master Sergeant with many honors including the United States Army Reserve Unit Ministry Team of the year Reverend Newbill’s journey into the ministry began long ago when he was ordained as a deacon on August 8, 1991. For over 15 years he served as deacon using his spiritual gift to teach until one day he heard the voice of GOD while he was in Qatar serving his country. Upon his return home, he announced his calling to preach the gospel on August 26, 2007 and preached his first sermon on October 14th. He was licensed on November 18, 2007 and ordained on June 14, 2009. After preaching a few years, Reverend Newbill formalized his spiritual education receiving both his Bachelor of Arts in Religion (2011), Master of Arts in Theological Studies (2014), and Master of Divinity (2019) from Faith International Theological Seminary (formerly Faith Evangelical College and Seminary). Since January 1, 2016, Reverend Newbill has served as full-time pastor of Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He is excited about his journey and humbled that GOD chose him for such a tremendous honor. He strongly believes the Holy Bible to be the infallible, inherent Word of GOD and is seeking to live his life according to what it says. He often refers to II. Chronicles 7:14 as his encouraging words. “If my people, which are called my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” | |
