Mother Barbara Newbill Mother Newbill was baptized on August 5th, 1955 in Canton, MS. She stated that she still remembered hearing the congregation singing "On the battlefield" during her baptism. A member of Greater New Zion MBC since 1977 Past church duties include: Choir memmber, Substitute Sunday School teacher, Mission teacher. Mother of 4, with 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Used to cook dinners for Minister's Alliance to help raise money for the choir robes. When asked of her favorite scripture, she stated Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". |
Mother Sadie Pullen First came to Christ at the age of 12, but stated that she surrendered at the age of 35. A member of Greater New Zion MBC for 9 years, Mother Pullen has held numerous titles including: Chairperson of Annual Women's day, Sunday School and Mission teacher. 1st VP Senior Women's SRVGBCA. She is a retired Director of Nurses for Desert Haven Care Center. Mother to 1 Child, 4 Grandchildren, and 8 Great-Grand children When Asked of her Favorite Scripture She quoted: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". |
Mother Ruth Tillery Member of GNZ for 31 years in the past Mother Tillery has been Sunday School Superintendent Teacher of Women's class, and active member of the Ushers board. She is currently a Mission member, and on the Mother's Board She is the mother of 1 Child, 6 Grand Children, & 7 Great Grand-children Her Favorite Scripture is: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". |
Mother Ernestine Davis Currently Active member of the Mothers Board Mission. She is a retired Sunday School teacher. Mother Davis holds a position on the finance committee. A member of Greater New Zion since 1968, Mother Davis first accepted Christ at the age of 13 years old. A mother of 5, with 26 grand-children, and 13 great-grands. Even though now retired, Mother davis was an avid member of the Mass Choir. When asked of her favorite scripture from the Bible she stated Psalms 71:18 and Proverbs 3:5-6 |
Mother Delores Cochran (Sunrise: July 13th, 1945 - Sunset: November 11th, 2019) Mother Delores Cochran has been a member of Greater New Zion MBC since the year 1993. A Mother of 2, Mother Cochran is also the Grandmother of 4. Before retiring, she was an active and joyous member of the choir. Where she led numerous songs. In her career she has worked as a Service Specialist for Sears, Continental Bank, as well as Chase Bank.When asked of her favorite scripture she replied: Psalms 51:1-2 "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin". |
Mother Lillie Ann Ellis (Sunrise: September 5th, 1939 ~ Sunset: August 27th, 2016) Member of the Mother's Board. A member of Greater New Zion since 1964. Mother Ellis served as Church Clerk, Pastor Aides President, and President of Trustee Board. She also held the responsibilities of Financial and Pastor Secretary. A Mother of six (6) children, grandmother to thirty (30) grandchildren, and Great-Grandmother to nine (9). Before Retiring Mother Ellis Worked for years as a Director of Daycare. When Asked about her favorite scripture She replied with, Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
